Terms & Conditions

1. Who we are
“Goodland Web Co.,” “we,” “us,” or “our” refers to Goodland Web Co., a web design studio based in Goleta, California. “You” or “Client” means the person or business engaging us. You can reach us at goodlandweb@gmail.com.
2. Services
We provide website design and development and related services, which may include: website builds (The Local, The Signature, The Flagship), one-time add-ons (logo design, social pages setup, interactive features, domain setup), ongoing plans (Care Plan, marketing plans), one-off updates, and hosting. The specific services, deliverables, and prices for your project are those shown on our site or agreed in writing.
The free consult is one complimentary 20-minute call per client/project. Further calls and ongoing communication happen as part of an active project or plan, or can be arranged.
3. Quotes, estimates & pricing
- Prices shown as “from” are starting prices; your final price depends on scope and is confirmed before work begins.
- Any figure described as an estimate (for example, domain registration costs) is a good-faith approximation, not a guaranteed quote. The exact amount is set at the time of purchase or registration.
- Prices are in U.S. dollars and exclude any applicable taxes or third-party fees.
4. Payment & deposits
- Website projects start with a 50% deposit once we've agreed to begin. You have 24 hours from paying the deposit to cancel for a full refund; after those 24 hours, the deposit is non-refundable. The remaining 50% balance is due on or before launch.
- Monthly plans are billed in advance for each term.
- Late or failed payments may pause work, hosting, or plan benefits until resolved.
In short: a 50% deposit starts your project — refundable within 24 hours, then non-refundable; the balance is due by launch, and once paid in full there are no refunds.
5. Project process, timelines & revisions
- Typical builds go from deposit to launch in about 10 business days, assuming we have your content and timely feedback.
- Each package includes the number of revision rounds listed for that tier — one for The Local, up to three for The Signature, and up to five for The Flagship. A revision round is one consolidated set of changes within the agreed scope; net-new features or a change of project direction are quoted separately.
- Timelines depend on you providing content, assets, and approvals on time. Delays on your side extend the timeline.
6. Your content & responsibilities
- You provide the text, images, and materials for your site, and you confirm you have the right to use them.
- You're responsible for the accuracy and legality of content you supply, and for reviewing and approving work.
- You agree not to use our services for unlawful, infringing, or harmful purposes.
7. Ownership & intellectual property
Once your project is paid in full, you own your website — the code, design, and content we create for you are yours. If you ever leave, you can request an export of your site files so you can host them elsewhere. Two notes:
- Third-party components (fonts, libraries, stock assets, platforms like Substack or Ghost) remain under their own licenses.
- We may show your project in our portfolio and link to your live site, unless you ask us not to.
8. Hosting
When we host your site, we do so as a service on our own infrastructure (for example, our Vercel account). Hosting a site for you does not change the fact that you own it. We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free service, and we aren't responsible for outages caused by third-party providers. You may move your site to your own hosting at any time.
9. Domains
- With Domain setup, we can register a domain on your behalf or help fix an existing one. The domain is yours.
- Domains renew on a yearly cycle. We provide an estimate up front; the exact price is set at registration or renewal and can change (premium names cost more).
- To keep things running smoothly and avoid missed renewals, you authorize us to register and renew your domain on your behalf and bill you for it. We share an estimate beforehand and the actual price after; this is an estimate, not a fixed quote. You're responsible for these renewal costs while we manage the domain.
- You may take over or transfer your domain at any time.
10. Care Plan
- The Care Plan is a monthly subscription that includes the benefits listed on our site, such as two quick edits per month, a discount on larger work, hosting, and backups.
- Included edits are use-it-or-lose-it and do not roll over to the next month. Extra work is billed at our one-off update rates.
- Rate lock: your monthly Care Plan rate will not increase for at least three years from your start date.
- You can cancel anytime; cancellation stops future billing and plan benefits (including managed hosting) at the end of the current term.
11. Yearly check-in & tune-up
Care Plan members who have been with us for six months or more receive a yearly check-in & tune-up. This is a once-per-year session that typically includes:
- A review of your site's performance and a check that pages, forms, and links are working;
- Minor technical fixes and updates (for example, broken links, small layout issues, plugin/library updates);
- A light content and on-page SEO review with practical recommendations;
- A short summary of what we found and suggested next steps.
To make it useful, we'll ask you to confirm a time and share any access or context we need. The tune-up covers small fixes and recommendations; larger changes, redesigns, or new features identified during the check-in are quoted separately. The tune-up requires an active Care Plan; it ends if the plan is cancelled.
12. One-off updates
For sites we've built, you can request individual updates at the rates listed on our site, priced by effort. We may confirm scope before starting. Some updates have prerequisites — for example, a blog post requires a blog to be set up first (such as via Blog launchpad).
13. Marketing plans & analytics
- Marketing plans (Pulse, Momentum, Market Leader) are subscriptions with the deliverables listed for each plan.
- Monthly plans can be cancelled anytime.
- Reports and analytics describe what your site's data shows. We do not guarantee specific rankings, traffic, leads, or sales — outcomes depend on many factors outside our control.
- The free annual analytics check-in is provided as a courtesy to active clients, on a schedule we set, and is subject to these terms.
14. Cancellations & refunds
- The 50% deposit is fully refundable within 24 hours of payment; after 24 hours it is non-refundable. Once the project is paid in full, all sales are final — no refunds.
- Subscriptions stop at the end of the current billing term after you cancel; we don't provide partial-term refunds.
- We may decline or end a project, refunding any unearned, prepaid amounts, if we can't reasonably continue.
15. Disclaimers & limitation of liability
Our services are provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties and are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the service giving rise to the claim in the prior three months. Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law.
16. Third-party services
We use reputable third parties to deliver our services (for example, Vercel for hosting, Calendly for scheduling, and a payment processor such as Stripe). Your use of those features may also be subject to their terms.
17. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The “last updated” date above reflects the current version, and continued use of our services means you accept the changes.
18. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and any disputes will be handled in the courts located in California.
